Tips for Beating the Swine Flu Outbreak

Ever seen that movie Outbreak? Its a '90's film with Dustin Hoffman and Rene Russo. It also featured a Capuchin monkey.

At the time when I watched the movie, I think I became a little bit more conscious about what was going on around me. If I was taking public transportation and someone sneezed, I just held my breath for a minute and tried to get some fresh air from outside the window. Constant coughing had me paranoid.

Well that was a whole different disease and I won't want the government to deal with the swine flu as they did in Outbreak.

As the swine flu speads across the world with pandemic threats, its very important to know how to lessen the chances of getting infected.

It might be a smart idea to do what the CDC suggests.
  • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Dispose of the tissue in the trash after you use it.
  • Wash your hands with soap and water especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth. Germs can spread this way.
  • Try to avoid close contact with sick people.

  • If possible try to avoid shaking hands.

  • Should you get sick, the CDC recommends that you stay at home from work or school and limit contact with others to keep from infecting them.
Lastly, since flus of any kind usually attack the immune system it would be a good idea to keep yours in top shape. Get plenty of sleep, eat nutriciously and keep yourself clean on the inside and outside.
